Since Friday is the official release day for COMING HOME, I chose this week's paragraph from this book. This excerpt is from early in the book. Here, Ryan has just returned home. His father is in the hospital and he's with his mother at his childhood home.
“You are still the best, mother,” Ryan said as he gave her a peck on the cheek and made his way over to the cabinet to take out some dishes. He took comfort in everything being right where it always was and he felt a familiar sense of home. That feeling of discontent he’d been having had woven itself together with the peacefulness of home. But could he actually move home? Would that make this feeling go away? Ryan needed to focus on one thing at a time. He needed his dad to get better.
